Our story

It started at our kitchen table.

We're parents of three small kids. For a while, our kids went to a national math center. We weren't happy with it.

It was expensive. We got very little information about what our kids were actually working on, or why. And worst of all, they were handing our kids candy.

So we started making our own worksheets at home. We set each page at our kids' level, not their grade. We wrote word problems about their friends, their soccer games and the dog. We checked their work together at the kitchen table. They loved it, and they asked for the next page.

Then we got serious about it. We partnered with educators to map out every skill in the Common Core math standards from kindergarten through 5th grade, and how each skill builds on the ones before it. We applied machine learning to read handwritten pages, find the mistake behind a wrong answer, and plan what each child needs next.

That became Carry the One Math. Our system creates individualized instruction based on your child's exact level. Your child works through it with a pencil, at your table.

We think parents should know exactly what their child is learning, see every page, and not pay center prices for it. And we think the reward for getting it right should be the next problem, not a piece of candy.
